Roses have been grown for thousands of years in Persia, Egypt, India and China. Today, roses are mostly grown for their beauty and fragrance, but they have been of great importance as medicinal plants and are used as mythological, mysterious and religious symbols.
Rose hips are high in vitamin C and are edible raw and could be made into jam. They are also pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup. Rose hips are also used to produce rose hip oil which is used in skin products and some makeup products.
